PRIDE ST. LOUIS TO ILLUMINATE CIVIL COURTS BUILDING IN TRANSGENDER FLAG COLORS AHEAD OF PRIDEFEST 2026

Downtown landmark lighting serves as a symbol of hope, visibility, and support for the transgender community

ST. LOUIS, MO — Pride St. Louis is proud to announce the return of its signature downtown lighting display, with the historic Civil Courts Building illuminated in the colors of the transgender flag from Thursday, June 25 through the evening of Sunday, June 28.

While the annual display has traditionally featured the rainbow colors of Pride, this year’s lighting will shine in blue, pink, and white to honor the transgender community and recognize the contributions, sacrifices, and challenges transgender individuals face every day.

The display serves as a visible symbol of hope, pride, and support for transgender people and their families throughout the St. Louis region.

“Each year, the lighting of the Civil Courts Building is a powerful reminder that our community belongs and deserves to be celebrated,” said Arthur Nunn, President of Pride St. Louis. “This year, we wanted to dedicate that message specifically to our transgender community. At a time when transgender people are facing increasing attacks and efforts to diminish their visibility, we want them to know that they are seen, valued, and supported. We could think of no better way to demonstrate that support than by illuminating one of St. Louis’ most iconic landmarks in the colors of the transgender flag.”

Despite budget challenges, Pride St. Louis remained committed to continuing the annual tradition and ensuring this year’s display carried a meaningful message of solidarity and inclusion.

Pride St. Louis extends its sincere gratitude to Congressman Wesley Bell for his support in helping make this year’s display possible, as well as the 22nd Judicial Circuit Court for its continued partnership and for allowing the lighting to take place.

The lighting display will be visible from June 25 through June 28 and will serve as a centerpiece leading into PrideFest 2026, taking place June 27 and 28 in downtown St. Louis.
