Volunteer FAQ’s

Pride St. Louis, Inc. is always looking to get more of the community involved with us throughout the year.  We have volunteer opportunities at our fund raising and outreach events as well as our largest event of the year, PrideFest.

Volunteering for events can be an enjoyable experience.

  • All volunteers for PrideFest must be at least 16 years old
    • All volunteers under 18 must have parent or guardian approval
  • All volunteers for Pride Events held at a bar/nightclub must be at least 18 years old and sometimes 21 years old.
  • All volunteers for other Pride Events must be at least 16 years old
    • All volunteers under 18 must have parent or guardian approval

We hope the information contained within the volunteer guidelines provides you with the details you need to be a part of our team and to be an effective volunteer. The guidelines were designed to help create an enjoyable and rewarding experience for everyone!

 

Remember: Volunteering is a privilege not a right and a volunteer can be dismissed from an event for not following volunteer guidelines, policies, and procedures as established by the hosting venue and/or Pride St. Louis, Inc.

Saint Louis Pride

Volunteer Guidelines

 Volunteer Meetings - Please attend one of the following meetings

  • June 7th  @  7pm
  • June 9th  @  7pm
  • June 21st  6:30pm


Check-in:

  1. All volunteers must register and check-in
    1. Bar and Non Bar Events at the Volunteer Table
    2. Pride Fest at the Volunteer Check In Tent Located on the main drag in Tower Grove Park
  2. If you have not filled out a Volunteer Information form, you will need to do so before you begin your assignment.
  3. If you have not filled out your Volunteer In Case of Emergency form, you will need to do so before you begin your assignment.(Pride has to have one on file for all volunteers)
  4. (Pride Fest)Receive your Pride Volunteer T-Shirt and Lunch Ticket
    1. Lunch tickets may be redeemed at Fair Weather Foods

                                             

                                                            

    1.  (It is the volunteers responsibility to keep their ticket secure until they are ready to use)(Volunteers are only issued one ticket)
  1. Report to your assigned location

 

All volunteers are asked to work at least Four (4) hours. If you do not have an assignment, you will be given one on a first-come, first-served basis.

 

Checkout:

  1. Report to the Volunteer Check In Tent when you have completed your assigned Shift.
  2. If you need community service credit for your school or organization
    1. Please bring a form or letter with you that the staff can quickly and easily sign.
    2. Otherwise, we will have volunteer letters for you up to two weeks after festival

 


 

Conduct and Expectations:

  1. Volunteers under the age of 18 must have a permission form from a parent or guardian to volunteer for our events. If you appear under age, you may be asked for identification.
  2. Maintain poise and professionalism at all times. You are representing the Pride Saint Louis
  3. Please pick-up trash in your area to keep the area clean.
  4. Many Festival visitors are counting on you for assistance
  5. Arrive at the event in neat, clean, comfortable clothing and shoes. Inclement weather changes do occur in Saint Louis, please be prepared.
  6. Volunteers must not consume alcoholic beverages during their assignments. When you complete you assigned shift, please remove your volunteer name badge so that you may enjoy the event as a member of the public.
  7. Volunteers are to refer issues needing special attention to the Director of Volunteers, the Police; please do not try to intervene in any conflict situations. We have staff trained and prepared for such situations.
  8. If you find your assignment is not working out, please inform the Director of Volunteers or talk to the Volunteer Assistant working the Volunteer VIP tent. We will try to reassign you to an area better suited for your skills and interests.
  9. Volunteers working with Talent or Entertainers are not to solicit autographs of offer information about personal endeavors.
  10. Please be very patient and understanding when dealing with the Board of Directors of Pride Saint Louis. Many of the Board Members are under a lot of pressure during Pride Festival.
  11. The Volunteer VIP tent is a place for volunteers to go and relax. (We will have bottled water, and Fans for our volunteers)
    1. This is an area for volunteers; do not bring non-volunteers to this area.
  12. Finally! ENJOY YOURSELF! We all know festivals are fun and even better when you’re a part of making it happen.

 

 


 

Pride Festival

 

Festival Set Up

-Friday June 25th at the park

-Festival set up is when PSL sets up the park for pride fest.

 

Festival Strike Down

-Monday June 28th at the park

-Festival strike down is when PSL strikes the park after the festival, Taking down vendor tents and cleaning up the park.

 

Festival Vendor Team

-Saturday June 26th from 6am-11:30am

-Vendor Check-in

-Take Vendor Request to the Director of venders During Festival

*Will require additional meetings before festival

 

Festival Beverage Team

-Selling Beer at festival

-Must be 21 years of age to volunteer for this position

 

Festival Security

- Work with Police to secure a safe festival for all Patrons

*Must have some security, loss prevention, police, or military experience

* Will require additional meetings before festival

 

Festival Merchandise Team

-Working Pride Central

-Selling PSL Merchandise

-Answering questions and giving directions to festival patrons

 

Festival Parade Team

* Will require additional meetings before festival

 

Festival First Aid Team

*Must have Proof of EMT, RN, OR Medical License (Need copy on file with volunteer application)

* Will require additional meetings before festival

 

Festival Commitment Ceremony

-Help Register couples prior to ceremony

-Serve the cake and Champaign after the ceremony

-The ceremony is on Saturday afternoon
